hello world
By Anodyne
Last summer, I finally finished my undergrad degree. I have no reason to keep writing essays, but I find myself journaling. If writing is part of my character now, I may as well direct it somewhere I love.
I believe the chiptune scene is something that needs to be cared for in order for it to stay healthy and active. This blog will be a part of that upkeep effort. Initiatives like Chiptune Monthly inspire this project. We need public hubs that point to what’s happening now, with an emphasis on sharing others’ work. Further, we need multiple of these hubs working in parallel to achieve stable and diverse networks - the world is too big and transient to rely on any one resource. If you are familiar at all with my work at ABOC or Infinite Lives, you may already be familiar with these opinions.
I offer this site to anyone who wants to share their work or musings, even if they’re a tangent away from chiptune. Personally, I am most eager to write about upcoming albums and shows. And I’m finally ready to write Part 2 of Preventing Sexual Violence in Chiptune, which is something I struggled to keep writing when I first started it.
At some point too, I would love to showcase different takes on the question: “What is Chiptune?“ I believe the most responsible way to explore that question is to witness multiple answers before settling on your own. In general, I would love to see others contributing to this blog, but I am most eager to pay attention to chiptune happenings, and write about it. If anyone wants to do that with me, then yay! Otherwise, I plan to keep rolling with this little project.
